Jessica Savitch

American Television News Anchor (1947 - 1983)

Jessica Savitch was a news reporter and weekend anchor for NBC News and the host of Frontline on PBS. She made headlines herself when she and her date, New York Post Vice-President Martin Fischbein, ran off a road into a canal and drowned on October 23, 1983. The Golden Girl, a book about her life and death, was made into a Lifetime movie starring Sela Ward as Savitch.
