American movie (1944)
The movie Lifeboat was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and starred Tallulah Bankhead, William Bendix, John Hodiak, Hume Cronyn, and Canada Lee. The story was written by John Steinbeck. The set for this movie is still considered to be the smallest in the world. Hitchcock's cameo appearance is in the first twenty-five minutes of the movie; His face appears in the before and after pictures in a newspaper advertisement for "Reduco Obesity Slayer". According to Hitchcock's memoirs, hundreds of fans wrote him letters requesting information about the miracle fat reducer. Another item of trivia interest is that Tallulah Bankhead and John Steinbeck were born and died in the same year, as each other.
