Paula Abdul

American Pop star (1962-)

Paula Abdul was born in San Fernando, California and attended Van Nuys High School and California State-Northridge College. While in college she successfully auditioned to become a "Laker Girl" for the L.A. Lakers, and soon she became choreographer for the dance team. This led to choreography work in television and movies, most notably the early music videos of Janet Jackson. (She appears as one of Janet's two friends in the "Nasty" video.) Her first two albums, released in 1988 and 1991, both went to #1 and spawned six #1 singles. She went on to sell thirty million records worldwide, and to win a Grammy and two Emmys. Today she has achieved a new level of fame as a judge on the American Idol television series.
