American Actor & U.S. Senator (1942 - )Fred Thompson served as a U.S. attorney from 1969 to 1972, and in 1973 he was minority counsel to the Senate committee investigating the Watergate Scandal. In 1977 he represented a whistle-blower in a scandal that brought down the governor of Tennessee. When a movie was made of the story in 1985, Thompson played himself, which led to a career in acting. Thompson served as a U.S. Senator from Tennessee from 1994-2003.
