On This Very Spot, following his death from assassination on September 19, 1881, President James Garfield was interred in an impressive mausoleum monument in Section 15.

On This Very Spot baseball player Raymond Johnson Chapman was buried in Section 42, Lot 16 following his death on August 17, 1920 after being hit in the head by a pitch. Chapman played shortstop for the Cleveland Indians from 1912-1920 before being traded to the New York Yankees.

On This Very Spot, following his death at 97 on May 23, 1937, John D. Rockefeller, Sr. was buried in Section 10, Lot 49.

On This Very Spot the ashes of Eliot Ness were scattered over a pond following his death from a heart attack at the age of 54 on March 16, 1957. A monument to Ness is located in Section 7.
