On This Very Spot is America's primary memorial to President Abraham Lincoln.

On This Very Spot on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. made his famous "I Have a Dream" speech to more than 200,000 people during a peaceful civil rights rally on August 28, 1963.

On This Very Spot the Lincoln Memorial has been a setting and/or film location for numerous movies, including Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Forrest Gump, and The Firm.

This is a national memorial administered by the National Park Service (USA). For complete visitor's information, go to the official website at www.nps.gov/linc.

Public Access: The Lincoln Memorial is open to the public 24/7/365. It is located at the west end of the Washington D.C. Mall, which also includes night memorials to the Vietnam War, the Korean War, and World War II, as well as the Washington Monument and the Capital Building.

Location: Downtown Washington, DC beside the Potomac River.
