On This Very Spot every day, the world-famous Peabody Ducks "march to and from the Grand Lobby twice daily in a time-honored tradition dating back to the 1930s. At 11 AM and again at 5 PM, the red carpet is rolled out and The Peabody Ducks march to the tune of John Philip Sousa's 'King Cotton March' before a crowd of amazed and delighted guests." On This Very Spot was filmed the rooftop cocktail party scene in 1993's The Firm, during which Tom Cruise's character "Mitch" jokingly threatens to climb over the rail and jump off. Later in the movie, Mitch meets with the Maralto Brothers on this very spot. The hotel is mentioned by name in the dialogue and the exterior of the hotel is shown at the beginning of the scene, but the interior shots of the meeting were actually filmed in a nearby high-rise office building.

On This Very Spot in 1929, The Peabody's rooftop was the site for a live radio broadcast. Blues man Robert T. Wilkins was the first African-American to perform. Wilkins also recorded on the Brunswick label in the same year at The Peabody.
