On This Very Spot on July 15, 1970, a live performance by Neil Diamond was recorded and later released as a live album under the title Gold.

On This Very Spot in August 1970, Elton John played his first American shows. The weeklong gig was arranged by UNI Records to introduce him to the music and showbiz community as a way of promoting the Elton John album, then in heavy rotation on FM radio. Neil Diamond introduced him, and the crowd was filled with celebrities and other musicians. By the time the week was over, Elton was an overnight success in America. A photo of Elton taken during these performances was used on the cover of his 1972 album Honky Chateau.
