On This Very Spot on February 22, 1732, George Washington was born on his father's plantation on the banks of the Potomac River about 80 miles due south of what is now Washington, D.C.

On This Very Spot on January 23, 1930, the George Washington Birthplace National Monument was established, the spot was placed on the National Register of Historic Places (USA) and its administration taken over by the National Park Service (USA).
