On This Very Spot in the late 1910's, Piggly-Wiggly founder
Clarence Saunders began building a mansion out of imported pink stone.
On This Very Spot during the 1920s, the city acquired the uncompleted mansion after
Clarence Saunders lost his fortune.
On This Very Spot the city established the Pink Palace Museum. A replica of the original
Piggly Wiggly store is part of the permanent exhibit.
